Pittsburgh Steelers beat writer Mark Kaboly has identified the team's transition to a new coaching staff and offensive system as his primary worry ahead of the 2026 regular season.
Kaboly shared his view during an appearance on 93.7 The Fan on July 8. He questioned whether the staff and players can align before the September 13 opener.
The concern centers on head coach Mike McCarthy's scheme, which differs from prior approaches in Pittsburgh. McCarthy, now in his third head-coaching role after stints with the Packers and Cowboys, has acknowledged the challenges of a first offseason with a new team.
Kaboly noted that many veterans will essentially start over, raising the risk of a slow start. The Steelers open against the Atlanta Falcons at Acrisure Stadium, with divisional games against the Bengals and Browns following soon after.
