Pittsburgh Steelers third-round quarterback Drew Allar is demonstrating initial signs of improvement in his mechanics during organized team activities. Beat writer Mike DeFabo noted progress in Allar's comfort with new footwork after the first weeks of OTAs. Allar has also outlined his personal workout plans ahead of training camp.
The Athletic's Mike DeFabo said on his Yinziders podcast that Allar is beginning to feel more comfortable with the adjusted footwork emphasized by the Steelers coaching staff. DeFabo added that Allar reported after Tuesday's practice that he is starting to slow down and think more quickly as a result. Allar, selected 76th overall, has been working to reset his college mechanics under head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback coach Tom Arth. He has spent the offseason collaborating with private coach John Beck, who has worked with other NFL quarterbacks including Dak Prescott. Allar told the Steelers website that he plans to continue his development by reviewing all quarterback reps and preparing outside of team facilities. He is currently fourth on the depth chart but will receive additional repetitions this week as only two quarterbacks remain at OTAs.
