Final Fantasy VII character Tifa Lockhart will appear in Street Fighter 6 as a guest fighter. She joins the year 4 roster expansion with a reimagined Materia magic system.
Capcom revealed the addition during Summer Game Fest on June 6. Final Fantasy VII director Naoki Hamaguchi said, “Tifa is a character loved by players all around the world. That’s exactly why this was done to bring to life a Tifa who truly fights within the world of Street Fighter 6.” Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama added that her Materia powers will be “reimagined as a new gameplay system.” He noted that her design and movement have been rebuilt for the game. A teaser was shown, with full character details to follow later. The year 4 content begins this summer. Yasmine arrives August 3, Arjun follows in the fall, Tifa comes in early 2027, and World Tour protagonist Bosch arrives in spring 2027. Tifa previously appeared in the PS1 game Ehrgeiz alongside Cloud. Tekken fans had requested her inclusion for years, though creator Katsuhiro Harada stated in 2024 that no guest character decisions had been made at that time.
