Tim Daly joins Téa Leoni in NBC comedy pilot Newlyweds

Tim Daly will star alongside his wife Téa Leoni in the NBC multi-camera comedy pilot Newlyweds. The project marks their first collaboration since their marriage in July 2025. The couple previously met on the set of Madam Secretary, where they portrayed a married pair.

Tim Daly and Téa Leoni, who married in July 2025, are set to play newlyweds in the NBC comedy pilot of the same name. Variety reports that Daly has been cast opposite Leoni in the multi-cam project, their first joint endeavor following their real-life wedding. The two first met while working on the CBS drama Madam Secretary, in which they played a married couple over the show's six seasons.

Newlyweds was ordered to pilot by NBC in January. According to the logline, it follows a later-in-life love story about a free-spirited woman and a buttoned-up professor who marry impulsively after a whirlwind romance. Daly will portray Tony, a recently divorced man who encounters Jeannie at a valet stand, dines with her despite the mishap, and adapts to her lively presence, preferring change over life without her.

This role brings Daly back to NBC, where he starred in the sitcom Wings for eight seasons from 1990 to 1997. His recent television credits include The Fugitive on CBS and Madam Secretary. In 2007, Daly received an Emmy nomination for outstanding guest actor in a drama series for his role as JT Dolan on The Sopranos.

The pilot is written and executive produced by Gail Lerner, with Jamie Lee Curtis as co-creator and executive producer. Additional executive producers are Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, Scott Schwartz, and Lionsgate Television. Leoni will produce in addition to starring, and Pam Fryman is set to executive produce and direct the episode. Universal Television serves as the studio.
