Tokenization becomes strategic priority for 84% of financial firms

A new survey shows that most North American financial institutions now view tokenization as essential to their operations. The findings indicate accelerating efforts to integrate blockchain-based assets into existing markets.

According to a Broadridge survey of 200 executives, 84% of financial institutions consider tokenization a strategic priority. Sixty-eight percent expect the technology to at least partially reshape financial markets within three to five years.

Firms favor hybrid approaches. Ninety-two percent anticipate digital and traditional assets will coexist, while 69% plan to integrate tokenization into current systems rather than create separate ones.

Adoption varies by sector. Forty-four percent of capital markets firms report production or scaled initiatives, compared with 20% of asset managers and 9% of wealth managers. Tokenized mutual funds and money market funds are projected to see broader use than equities over the next five years.

Regulatory uncertainty and integration challenges remain the top obstacles cited by respondents.
