Travis Bazzana makes first career start in leadoff spot

Cleveland Guardians rookie Travis Bazzana started in the leadoff spot for the first time on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The 23-year-old, selected first overall in the 2024 draft, entered the game with a .273/.391/.364 slash line over 22 contests since his promotion from Triple-A Columbus. He had drawn 13 walks in 92 plate appearances, driven in nine runs, hit two home runs including his first on May 8, and stolen seven bases.
