TSE minister proposes seal to reward poll institutes

TSE minister Kassio Nunes Marques proposed an accuracy seal for research institutes that come closest to official election results.

Kassio Nunes Marques presented the idea after suspending disclosure of an AtlasIntel poll at the request of the PL party. He claimed the survey contained biased questions.

The proposal would have the TSE award the seal days before elections to give visibility to the best-performing companies. Flávio Bolsonaro congratulated the minister and suggested the mechanism could shame institutes such as Quaest.

The Brazilian Association of Research Companies stated that requiring polls to hit the result confuses science with a crystal ball. Antonio Lavareda said a poll is not a forecast and the seal does not exist anywhere in the world.
