Two suspects charged in burglary at François Hollande's home

The Paris home of former President François Hollande and Julie Gayet was burglarized on November 22. Two men were arrested, charged, and imprisoned on November 28 for organized gang theft. Hollande’s entourage stated that the intrusion had minimal consequences due to the quick police intervention.

On November 22, the Paris residence of François Hollande, former President of the Republic, and his partner Julie Gayet, an actress and producer, was targeted in a burglary. This information, first reported by BFM-TV, was confirmed by the Paris prosecutor's office on December 1.

An investigation into organized gang theft was launched by the second district of the judicial police. It quickly led to the arrest of two suspects, born in December 1994 and February 1995 in Algeria, respectively. Brought before the courts, they were charged and placed in pre-trial detention on November 28.

Hollande's entourage downplayed the incident's impact: “The burglary had few consequences thanks to the police intervention,” sources close to the Corrèze PS deputy, who has returned to active politics, stated. No details were provided on stolen items or the extent of the damage, but the police response appears to have contained the losses.

This burglary occurs as François Hollande, elected deputy in 2024, increases his public appearances and media interventions, particularly on France's political and international situation. The case highlights the security risks faced by public figures, even after their presidential term.
