The university's Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, issued a statement on June 25, 2026. It said the closure followed careful consideration of the circumstances around the death.
The measure allows time for emotions to settle among students. It also enables a review of healthcare facilities, medical personnel, and water supply at the Ifetedo Campus.
