Vanguard has begun a search for a senior executive to lead its strategy on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
The new role, listed within Vanguard Personal Wealth, will involve developing a multi-year digital asset roadmap. Responsibilities include assessing opportunities in tokenization, stablecoins, custody and blockchain settlement while coordinating across product, technology, operations, legal and compliance teams.
The move follows Vanguard's decision last December to allow brokerage clients to trade cryptocurrency ETFs and mutual funds. The firm, which oversees roughly $10 trillion, has said it has no plans to issue its own crypto products.
CEO Salim Ramji, who joined from BlackRock in July 2024, previously indicated that Vanguard's approach remains consistent with its long-term investment philosophy. The position will also involve advising leadership on market changes and representing the firm with regulators.
