WDC pavilion begins tour through Rhein-Main region in Bad Homburg

A mobile pavilion of World Design Capital (WDC) 2026 embarks on a tour starting Wednesday, April 15, in Bad Homburg through six locations in the Rhein-Main region. It aims to serve as a meeting point for dialogues and workshops, making design tangible in public spaces. Carolina Romahn, managing director of WDC, highlighted how design strengthens communities.

The pavilion, described as a «living lab for design», is sustainably built and travels as a mobile venue through the region. It serves as a meeting point, exhibition space, and venue for workshops and dialogues. Entry is free, aiming to bring design into public spaces and make co-creation visible.

The tour starts on April 15 in Bad Homburg's Kurhausgarten and continues to Kelkheim (May 6-17), Offenbach (May 27 to June 14), Wiesbaden (June 24 to July 12), Rüdesheim in Rheingau (August 19-30), and Darmstadt (date pending).

Frankfurt and the Rhein-Main region hold the WDC title for the first time, awarded by the World Design Organization (WDO) in Montreal. The motto is «Design for Democracy. Atmospheres for a better life». Around 2,000 projects with 450 partners are planned for the year.

Carolina Romahn stated: «The pavilion is a place that shows how design can strengthen our community and act as a driver for change across the entire region.»
