Wisconsin man charged in shooting death of wife at nature preserve

An 80-year-old Wisconsin man has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide after fatally shooting his wife at a nature preserve near Baraboo. George Paul allegedly killed his 80-year-old wife Susan Paul before firing shots at a local police department.

On May 8 at about 2 p.m., witnesses saw George Paul pull his wife from a vehicle at Pewitt's Nest Nature Preserve on County Road West in the Township of Baraboo and shoot her multiple times. Deputies from the Sauk County Sheriff's Office found Susan Paul dead from close-range gunshot wounds in the parking lot. The area lies about 50 miles northwest of Madison.
