Supreme Court minister Cristiano Zanin ordered the closure of an inquiry investigating Superior Court of Justice minister Og Fernandes over an alleged scheme to sell rulings.

The ruling was signed on Friday (31/7) and followed an opinion from the Attorney General's Office. Prosecutor General Paulo Gonet concluded there was insufficient evidence after nearly a year of investigations that included bank and tax record breaches.

The probe had raised suspicions about Og Fernandes's former chief of staff, Rodrigo Falcão de Oliveira Andrade, acting as an intermediary. However, the PGR noted that the minister transferred R$ 92,606.66 to businessman Fernando de Queiroz Campos Júnior, which undermined the corruption hypothesis. Gonet observed that Og Fernandes's decisions were technical and mostly contrary to the interests of the business group under investigation.

Zanin authorized the investigated parties to access the full case files. Other inquiries he oversees, against ministers Moura Ribeiro and Marco Buzzi, remain open.
