Sony to end physical PlayStation game disc production in 2028

Sony announced it will stop manufacturing physical discs for all new PlayStation games starting January 2028. New titles will be available only in digital formats through the PlayStation Store and retailers. The move has sparked widespread online criticism from fans.
A hardware leaker reports that Sony's bill of materials for the PlayStation 6 has increased to around $900. Sony stated it does not intend to sell hardware at significant losses.
