11-year-old girl critically injured after car collision in Shinshiro City, driver arrested

Police in Shinshiro City, Aichi Prefecture, arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of negligent driving causing injury. An 11-year-old girl hit in the incident remained in critical condition.

The incident occurred at around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. The girl was crossing the road when she was struck by a light vehicle.

Police in Shinshiro City responded to a witness report via 110 and arrested the driver, Toshihiro Umeoka. The accident took place on a road near a pedestrian overpass.

The girl remained in critical condition on Sunday, according to police, who continue their investigation.
