AIK Hockey posts first profit in years with positive results

AIK Hockey reported a profit of 628,000 kronor for the past year, its first in several years. Västerås and Almtuna also posted improved financial results in their recent annual reports.

AIK Hockey achieved the profit thanks to a strong performance by its parent organization, which recorded a surplus of over two million kronor. The club had a turnover of about 45 million kronor with no restaurant revenue. It has secured eight million kronor in new capital contributions for the 2026/27 season and set a record in season ticket sales worth 4.6 million kronor. The club noted in its report that the economic situation remains unsustainable for fair competition nationally due to the arena issue. Plans for a new Hovet arena were presented this week. Västerås reduced its deficit to 341,000 kronor, preserving enough equity to meet elite license requirements. It budgets for a 200,000 kronor surplus next season with turnover falling to 39 million kronor. Almtuna turned around prior losses to post a 1.8 million kronor profit. Vice chairman Ulf Rosén credited a 185 percent rise in sponsors, 400 percent growth in merchandise sales and higher season ticket numbers.
