La circonscription de Falta organise un nouveau scrutin sous haute sécurité

Un nouveau scrutin a lieu jeudi dans la circonscription de Falta, au Bengale-Occidental, avec des mesures de sécurité renforcées par la Commission électorale.

Le vote précédent, qui s'était tenu le 29 avril, a été annulé à la suite d'allégations de manipulation des machines à voter (EVM). Cette fois, huit membres des forces de police armées centrales ont été postés dans chacun des 285 bureaux de vote. Environ 35 compagnies de forces centrales ont été déployées dans toute la circonscription.

Trente équipes d'intervention rapide sont prêtes à agir en cas de trouble. Deux caméras web à l'intérieur et une à l'extérieur de chaque bureau enregistrent le processus. Une retransmission en direct est en cours et une surveillance par drone est également utilisée.

Trois observateurs électoraux supervisent le vote. Par ailleurs, le candidat du TMC, Jahangir Khan, a annoncé qu'il se retirait du processus électoral.
