Wahlwiederholung im Wahlkreis Falta findet unter verstärkten Sicherheitsvorkehrungen statt

Am Donnerstag findet im westbengalischen Wahlkreis Falta eine Wahlwiederholung statt, bei der die Wahlkommission die Sicherheitsvorkehrungen verdoppelt hat.

Die vorangegangene Wahl am 29. April war nach Vorwürfen der Manipulation von Wahlgeräten (EVM) annulliert worden. Diesmal sind an jedem der 285 Wahllokale acht Beamte der Central Armed Police Force stationiert. Insgesamt wurden rund 35 Kompanien zentraler Sicherheitskräfte im gesamten Wahlkreis eingesetzt.

Dreißig schnelle Eingreiftruppen stehen bereit, um bei Störungen sofort einzugreifen. Jeweils zwei Webkameras im Inneren und eine außerhalb jedes Wahllokals zeichnen den Prozess auf. Ein Webcasting findet statt und auch Drohnenüberwachung wird eingesetzt.

Drei Wahlbeobachter überwachen den Urnengang. Unterdessen hat der TMC-Kandidat Jahangir Khan seinen Rückzug aus dem Wahlprozess bekannt gegeben.
