Les Foo Fighters sont revenus mercredi soir sur le plateau du Late Show with Stephen Colbert pour un medley dynamique reprenant leurs première et dernière apparitions dans l'émission.

Le groupe a débuté avec "This Is a Call", leur premier passage en 1995 sous l'ère David Letterman, et a terminé avec "Everlong", qui fut également la dernière performance musicale d'un invité sous la direction de Letterman en 2015. Colbert a souligné ce moment symbolique lors de l'émission enregistrée à New York. Dave Grohl est revenu par la suite sur les liens étroits unissant le groupe à Letterman, rappelant que les musiciens avaient annulé une tournée pour interpréter "Everlong" après l'opération cardiaque de l'animateur en 2000, car cette chanson l'avait aidé à se rétablir. Cette apparition marque vraisemblablement la dernière visite du groupe dans cette institution du late-night, alors que l'émission de Colbert prendra fin le 21 mai suite à son annulation. Les Foo Fighters ont récemment sorti leur album Your Favorite Toy en avril et doivent se produire au festival BottleRock Napa Valley plus tard ce mois-ci avant de se rendre en Europe pour le Take Cover Tour.
