Une exposition consacrée à Ian Curtis ouvrira ses portes à New York cet été

Une nouvelle exposition dédiée au chanteur de Joy Division, Ian Curtis, présentera pour la première fois à New York des documents d'archives rares. Intitulée « Ian Curtis: Insight », l'exposition se tiendra à la Voltz Clarke Gallery du 25 juin au 22 juillet et proposera des manuscrits de paroles, des lettres personnelles et des photographies. L'événement s'appuie sur le British Pop Archive de l'Université de Manchester.

L'exposition explore la tension et l'énergie créative à l'œuvre dans le travail de Curtis ainsi que dans la scène mancunienne de la fin des années 1970 qui l'a façonné. Les objets exposés comprennent des paroles de chansons de Joy Division écrites à la main, des photographies, des lettres et d'autres documents éphémères jamais montrés auparavant aux États-Unis. Les organisateurs soulignent que ces documents mettent en lumière la manière dont Curtis a puisé son inspiration dans le paysage industriel et la culture DIY de la ville.
