Décès de José Ignacio López de Arriortúa, le « Superlópez » du secteur automobile

Le cadre basque José Ignacio López de Arriortúa, surnommé « Superlópez », est décédé à l'âge de 84 ans après une carrière marquée par son passage chez General Motors et Volkswagen.

Né à Amorebieta (Biscaye) en 1941, López de Arriortúa a débuté sa carrière chez Firestone avant de rejoindre General Motors en 1980, où il a piloté la révision des processus et le contrôle des coûts. En 1993, il rejoint Volkswagen en tant que vice-président des achats et de la production, à l'invitation de Ferdinand Piëch. General Motors l'accuse alors d'espionnage industriel, ce qui aboutit à un règlement amiable dans lequel Volkswagen verse cent millions de dollars et achète pour plus d'un milliard de composants. Après avoir quitté Volkswagen en novembre 1996, il tente de construire une usine à Amorebieta avec le projet Aurora et son prototype Carmen, qui ne verra jamais le jour. Victime d'un grave accident de la route en 1998, il se retire ensuite de la vie publique.
