Lula réaffirme son soutien à Bachelet pour diriger l'ONU

Le président brésilien Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva a soutenu la candidature de Michelle Bachelet au poste de secrétaire générale de l'ONU après l'avoir rencontrée à Brasilia.

Lula et Bachelet se sont entretenus pendant près d'une heure lundi au palais du Planalto. Le dirigeant brésilien a souligné son expérience en tant que chef d'État et au sein de l'ONU, affirmant que cela la qualifie pour devenir la première femme latino-américaine à diriger l'organisation.

Ils ont discuté du rôle d'une ONU réformée dans la promotion de la paix, du développement durable et du multilatéralisme. Bachelet a présenté sa candidature à l'Assemblée générale le 21 avril lors d'une séance de trois heures.

Le Chili a retiré son soutien officiel sous la présidence de José Antonio Kast, mais le Brésil et le Mexique maintiennent le leur. Parmi les autres candidats figurent Rafael Grossi, Rebeca Grynspan et Macky Sall.

Lula a réitéré que Bachelet possède le CV le plus remarquable pour ce poste, compte tenu de ses deux mandats à la présidence du Chili et de ses fonctions de haut niveau au sein de l'ONU.
