Motorsport federation launches own probe after fatal crash

The Swedish motorsport federation Svemo is conducting its own investigation after a fatal crash during a national championship road racing event in Falkenberg.

A 30-year-old man died at the start of the race on the Falkenberg track. Police have seized three motorcycles involved and interviewed witnesses at the scene.

Svemo chairman Jesper Christensen said such incidents hurt deeply. He noted the federation is reviewing starting procedures, technical aids like launch control and medical protection developments.

Christensen stated Swedish road racing has seen three fatal accidents over 20 years. He added safety standards have never been higher.
