Le New Hampshire rejette une obligation adossée au Bitcoin de 100 millions de dollars

Le Conseil exécutif du New Hampshire a voté par 3 voix contre 2, le 8 juillet, le rejet d'une proposition d'obligation municipale adossée au Bitcoin d'une valeur de 100 millions de dollars. Cette décision a mis fin à l'étape finale d'approbation du projet, qui visait à devenir la première obligation adossée au Bitcoin notée à être émise sous l'autorité de l'État.

L'obligation aurait été émise par la Business Finance Authority de l'État du New Hampshire. Elle était structurée de manière à garantir un prêt au secteur privé accordé à CleanSpark sans exposer les contribuables ou les fonds de l'État à un risque de remboursement.

Moody's avait attribué une note provisoire Ba2 aux obligations plus tôt. Le vote est intervenu après une audience publique et a fait suite à des mois de planification par Wave Digital Assets, Rosemawr Management et l'autorité.

Keith Ammon, représentant de l'État et défenseur des cryptomonnaies, a qualifié la décision d'extrêmement imprudente. Il a exhorté le conseil à reconsidérer la question lors d'une future réunion.

Ce rejet laisse la proposition d'obligation adossée au Bitcoin inachevée au stade de l'approbation publique.
