Pour vérifier ses déplacements, la police a contacté les personnes ayant appelé son numéro ce jour-là. Les appelants ont confirmé que ce sont les employés du magasin qui répondaient aux appels et non Chetan lui-même. L'enquête est menée par la police rurale de Lonavala et inclut l'analyse des relevés d'appels ainsi que les éléments de conspiration présumés liés à l'affaire.
