Ronald Acuña Jr. hits grand slam in rehab game

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. connected for a grand slam during his third rehab game with the FCL Braves on Thursday.

Acuña blasted the third-inning homer off a slider to left-center field. The ball traveled a projected 423 feet at 112.8 mph. It gave the FCL Braves an 11-4 lead over the FCL Red Sox at the time.

The former NL MVP served as designated hitter and finished with five RBIs. He added two walks, one with the bases loaded. Acuña was replaced after the fourth inning.

Acuña has been sidelined since injuring his left hamstring on June 9. He was batting .251/.373/.421 with seven home runs before the injury. The Braves have not announced how long his rehab assignment will last.

Fellow injured players Andrew McCutchen and Ha-Seong Kim also appeared in the lineup for the FCL Braves.
