Ronald Acuña Jr. placed on injured list with hamstring strain

Atlanta placed outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain before Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox. The move came one day after Acuña injured himself while running out a ground ball in Tuesday's 6-5 loss. This marks his second stint on the injured list this season due to the same issue.

Acuña exited Tuesday's game in the fourth inning after grounding out to third baseman Miguel Vargas. He appeared to feel discomfort near first base and later slammed his helmet in frustration. Manager Walt Weiss said an MRI confirmed the strain. 'Grade 1, so it's not terrible, but enough where we had to IL him,' Weiss said before Wednesday's series finale at Guaranteed Rate Field. The Braves recalled Rowdy Tellez to fill the roster spot and designated Jhancarlos Lara for assignment. Acuña had returned from a prior 15-day absence on May 19 and played in 19 games since then. Atlanta entered Wednesday with the best record in baseball at 45-22 despite the injury challenges.
