Satena has confirmed the resumption of the air route between San Gil and Bucaramanga, operating every Monday from December 15 until March 16. Satena, Colombia's state airline, has reinstated the San Gil-Bucaramanga route, deemed essential for connectivity in the Santander department. The service began on December 15 and will continue until March 16, with flights scheduled every Monday. This decision addresses limitations of ground transportation, such as long distances, extended travel times, or weather impacts, easing access between San Gil, a hub for adventure tourism, and Bucaramanga, the business, medical, and administrative center of eastern Colombia.
Flight schedules are: departure from San Gil to Bucaramanga at 8:25 a.m. and return from Bucaramanga to San Gil at 9:25 a.m. The route uses Twin Otter aircraft, suited for regional airports and challenging terrain in the Guanentá province, ensuring reliability and safety.
“Resuming the connection between San Gil and Bucaramanga brings communities closer, boosts the local economy, and provides more travel options for Colombians. Satena remains committed to delivering connectivity where it's most needed,” stated Major General Óscar Zuluaga Castaño, president of the airline.
Satena emphasizes that this route will directly benefit nature tourism and the transport of passengers needing quick access to essential services in Bucaramanga. Fares are affordable: $141,900 via web sales and $170,220 through in-person channels, encouraging efficient mobility within the department.
