Sebastian Aho signs two-year contract with Växjö Lakers

Swedish defenseman Sebastian Aho has returned to the SHL after several seasons in North America. The 30-year-old signed a two-year deal with Växjö Lakers, moving from the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Växjö Lakers confirmed the signing of Sebastian Aho on June 14. The former Skellefteå AIK player left Sweden in 2017 and appeared in 190 NHL games with the New York Islanders before playing the last two seasons in the AHL.

Sportchef Henrik Evertsson described Aho as a complete player suited to the team's style. He highlighted the defenseman's playmaking ability and decision-making on the ice.

Aho, born in Umeå in 1996, brings experience from both NHL and AHL levels along with SHL championship success from his time with Skellefteå. The move ends a period of rumors about his return to Swedish hockey.
