Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day, who signed a two-year, $11 million contract—initially reported March 13 and official March 16—shared optimism about the team's 2026 defense in an interview with Steelers.com's Missi Matthews.
The seven-year veteran, a 2018 sixth-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams, brings versatility from stints with four teams (Rams, Chargers, Titans, Steelers). He started as a rookie nose tackle alongside Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh, won a Super Bowl in his third season, and has logged about 500 snaps per season across 105 games with 90 starts. Last season with the Titans, he played more on the edge (22 starts in 34 games over two years), recording 15.5 career sacks, 43 quarterback hits, two sacks, 41 tackles, six tackles for loss, and an elite 4.7% missed tackle rate despite fewer than half the defensive snaps.
Joseph-Day highlighted positive talks with Graham: 'It was all really positive conversation and things to look forward to. I’m really excited, the way he’s gonna use me and the way he sees my skill set and what I can do to help.' He emphasized willingness to play multiple roles, like interior lineman or five-technique, drawing parallels to former Steelers versatile lineman Tyson Alualu.
Joining alongside aging veteran Cam Heyward, Joseph-Day aims to mentor emerging talents like Derrick Harmon (recovering from injury), Keeanu Benton, and Yahya Black: 'I know they got a bunch of young players... if I could just come in and pass some wisdom down...
