Le cinéma espagnol brille à Cannes avec trois films en compétition

La 79e édition du Festival de Cannes débute ce mardi avec une présence espagnole sans précédent. Trois films sont en lice pour la Palme d'or, une première pour l'événement.

Le délégué général du festival, Thierry Frémaux, a souligné la diversité du cinéma espagnol lors de sa conférence de presse lundi. "Le cinéma espagnol fait preuve d'une diversité et d'une vitalité surprenantes, comme jamais auparavant", a-t-il déclaré.

Les films de la section officielle sont Amarga Navidad de Pedro Almodóvar, El ser querido de Rodrigo Sorogoyen et La bola negra de Javier Ambrossi et Javier Calvo. Viva d'Aina Clotet sera projeté à la Semaine de la critique.

Thierry Frémaux a noté que cette sélection représente trois générations de cinéastes espagnols. Le festival rendra également hommage à Carlos Saura avec la projection de Cría cuervos.

Maialen Beloki, the festival's deputy director since 2016, has been unanimously appointed as the new director of Spain's San Sebastián International Film Festival.
