Une éclipse solaire totale le 12 août plongera dans l'obscurité en plein jour certaines parties du Groenland, de l'Islande, de l'Espagne et du Portugal. La trajectoire s'étend sur 8 261 kilomètres, de l'Arctique à la mer Méditerranée.

La trajectoire de l'éclipse passera au-dessus de zones reculées de l'est du Groenland, de l'Islande, du Portugal et de l'Espagne. Les deux tiers du parcours se situant au-dessus de l'océan, certains voyageurs envisagent des croisières pour profiter de l'observation.
