La police a arrêté deux hommes à Chennai après qu'ils ont tenté de mettre en gage de faux bijoux en or dans une succursale bancaire. Les suspects auraient utilisé la même méthode pour escroquer plusieurs autres banques auparavant.

Les arrestations ont eu lieu après que Rajesh Tiwari Soni et Tamilselvan se sont présentés à l'Indian Overseas Bank de Secretariat Colony vendredi après-midi. Ils cherchaient à mettre en gage des bijoux en or pesant environ 15,4 grammes.

L'évaluateur de la banque, Kumaran, 27 ans, a examiné les objets et a déterminé qu'il s'agissait de faux. Il a alerté les autorités, ce qui a conduit la brigade criminelle du commissariat de Secretariat Colony à ouvrir une enquête pour escroquerie.

Les officiers ont arrêté Rajesh Tiwari Soni, 54 ans, et Tamilselvan, 48 ans. La police a saisi les faux bijoux plaqués or ainsi qu'un deux-roues appartenant aux hommes.
