US Air Force C-17s spotted at Beijing airport for Trump’s China trip

Images on Chinese social media show two US Air Force C-17 transport planes, tail numbers 088204 and 055140, arriving at Beijing Capital International Airport on Friday and Saturday. The sightings suggest Donald Trump’s high-stakes China visit remains on track. Britain-based Armchair Admiral confirmed the arrivals and noted two more C-17s en route to the country.

Aviation photography enthusiasts posted images on Chinese social media showing the C-17 US Air Force heavy-lifters – bearing tail numbers 088204 and 055140 – arriving at Beijing Capital International Airport on Friday and Saturday.

The arrivals were also noted on Saturday by Armchair Admiral, a Britain-based social media channel tracking air force aircraft movements. It added that two more C-17 aircraft appeared to be “en route” to the country at the time.

The presence of American military cargo planes at the Chinese capital’s main airport suggests that Trump’s high-stakes visit to China is still on.

South China Morning Post reported the sightings as an indication that the trip preparations are proceeding.
