Chinese President Xi Jinping met Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing in Beijing on Tuesday and the two sides signed 18 cooperation documents.
Xi said he was willing to strengthen strategic guidance with Myanmar, carry forward their pauk-phaw friendship and deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation. He described China as a trusted friend and steadfast partner to Myanmar.
Following a closed-door meeting at the Great Hall of the People, the leaders witnessed the signing of cooperation documents. The 18 memorandums of understanding cover cross-border transport in the Greater Mekong subregion, free trade, assistance in natural disasters, health and media, according to Reuters.
Xi noted that in the face of an international situation marked by changes and turbulence, both sides must maintain strategic clarity and resolve and strengthen unity and cooperation.
