HOUSTON -- Giancarlo Stanton left Friday night's game at Daikin Park after feeling tightness in his right calf while jogging from first to second base during a walk to Jazz Chisholm Jr. He sat out Saturday and Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Astros, marking his second consecutive absence. Stanton has played in 24 of the Yankees' 28 games this season, batting .256/.302/.422 with three home runs and 14 RBIs. Last year, he missed 85 games due to injuries. The Yankees, who stand at 5-1 on their nine-game road trip, face the Texas Rangers in a three-game series starting Monday night. Before Sunday's game, Boone addressed the short-handed lineup, saying, “Not too long. I would think we’ll have a decision ahead of tomorrow one way or the other.” He added that Stanton felt improved Saturday and believes he addressed the issue early: “I know [Saturday] he felt like it was improved. I think he also feels like he got in front of it a little bit, so we’ll see how it unfolds.” A decision on Stanton's status could come ahead of the Rangers series.
