AdHoc rules out uncensored physical version of Dispatch for Switch

Developer AdHoc Studio has confirmed there is no possibility of releasing an uncensored physical version of its game Dispatch on Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. The announcement follows fan backlash over default censorship on the platforms. While a digital update to reduce some censorship is in the works, physical options remain limited.

AdHoc Studio's superhero workplace comedy Dispatch has faced scrutiny since its release on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Last week, players discovered that the game includes heavy censorship by default, with black boxes covering characters' nipples and penises, and dampened sounds of sexual pleasure.

Nintendo responded to the complaints by reiterating its policies, stating that it "requires all games on its platforms to receive ratings from independent organisations and to meet our established content and platform guidelines."

AdHoc acknowledged the frustration, noting it understands why fans are "pissed." The studio is collaborating with Nintendo to find a solution and expressed confidence in delivering an update to address at least some of the censored content. However, this process will take several weeks due to console submission requirements, and no specific promises can be made yet.

Regarding physical releases, AdHoc was clear in a statement to GoNintendo: there is "no possibility" of an uncensored version for Switch or Switch 2. The studio added that discussions about a physical edition are not currently relevant, as no announcements have been made, despite earlier hints of interest in such a release.

On the topic of a singular worldwide release, which has sparked debate amid the censorship issue, AdHoc's PR team stated the company is "legally unable to provide further comment on why separate SKUs were not possible for different regions."

Despite the controversy, Dispatch has achieved significant success, selling over 1 million copies in just 10 days after its initial release last year. Buoyed by the "ravenous" fan response, AdHoc is now exploring a second season, potentially featuring even more sex scenes.

Developers at AdHoc Studio have explained why Invisigal appears more prominently than Blonde Blazer in their superhero game Dispatch, regardless of player romance choices. Co-founder Nick Herman told Mothership the difference stems from story structure and character authenticity, not favoritism. The clarification responds to fan debates over perceived bias.

Nintendo has released system update version 22.0.0 for the Nintendo Switch 2 on March 16, 2026. The update adds Handheld Mode Boost, enabling compatible original Nintendo Switch software to run in handheld or tabletop mode with performance similar to TV mode. This upgrade allows for improved visuals like 1080p resolution on the Switch 2's screen, though with some limitations and incompatible titles.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Overwatch launched with Season 2 but runs at a locked 30 frames per second, falling short of Blizzard's promise for 60fps performance in both docked and handheld modes. Players report sluggish movement and imprecise aiming compared to other platforms. Blizzard has acknowledged the framerate issue and is working on a patch.
