Denver Broncos outside linebacker Jonathan Cooper was arrested on domestic violence charges in Colorado early Friday morning. He faces two counts of domestic violence and one count of criminal mischief following an incident involving a fight over phones.
Cooper, 28, was arrested by Parker Police at 11:16 p.m. on Thursday and booked into Douglas County Jail at 2:38 a.m. local time. According to arrest records, the incident involved Cooper and an adult female, with both parties damaging phones during the altercation. The Broncos organization issued a statement confirming awareness of the matter and ongoing information gathering. Cooper had been participating in the team's offseason program and attended OTAs on Thursday. He was drafted by Denver in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft and signed a four-year, $60 million extension in 2024. Last season, Cooper recorded eight sacks, the second-most on the team. Cooper appeared in court on Friday morning, with another scheduled appearance set for Monday.
