Coco Gauff addresses Serena Williams doubles partnership rumors

Coco Gauff has spoken about speculation over a potential doubles pairing with Serena Williams at the Berlin Open. The 22-year-old American expressed enthusiasm for the idea despite teaming up with Jessica Pegula instead.

Gauff made the comments during a pre-tournament press conference in Berlin. She said she would welcome the chance to play alongside her childhood idol if asked.

"It feels really cool, I would love to play on the same side as her," Gauff told the Tennis Channel. She added that she hopes Williams will one day contact her to team up.

The rumors began after journalist Jon Wertheim reported that Williams had considered Gauff following Victoria Mboko's withdrawal. Williams ultimately chose Karolina Muchova as her partner for the WTA 500 event.

Gauff also recalled meeting Williams as a child in Florida during a photoshoot. She described the encounter as a moment that made her dreams feel possible.
