Rennae Stubbs criticizes Coco Gauff after Madrid Open loss

Former Serena Williams coach Rennae Stubbs has questioned Coco Gauff's on-court decision-making after the American's early exit from the Madrid Open. Gauff lost to Linda Noskova in the round of 16 despite leading in the deciding set. She has since shared a positive update on her health ahead of the Italian Open.

In an episode of her podcast, Stubbs said Gauff should have won the match. “Noskova beating Coco was impressive, because Coco should have won that match,” she noted. Gauff had taken the second set 6-1 and led 4-1 in the third before making poor shot selections and showing visible frustration that shifted momentum to her opponent.
