Chicago Cubs left-hander Justin Steele posted a message on social media this week after receiving a letter from a young fan. The note expressed support during Steele's recovery from elbow surgery.
Steele shared photos of the letter on Monday along with the caption: “Be right back. Crying. Cubs fans are the absolute best.” The letter came from Tommy Lynch of Orland Park, Illinois, who wrote that he has been a Cubs fan since birth and finds games more exciting when Steele pitches.
Lynch stated he was not seeking an autograph and advised Steele not to rush his return to avoid another injury. He added that he is praying for the pitcher.
Steele underwent elbow surgery that ended his 2025 season. He continues rehab and still has a chance to return to the Cubs this season, though likely in short relief appearances rather than as a starter.
