President-elect Abelardo De la Espriella received his credential from the National Electoral Council on June 25 and warned criminal organizations they have one month to submit to the state.

Abelardo De la Espriella received the credential accrediting him as president-elect for the 2026-2030 term, along with José Manuel Restrepo as vice president-elect. The document was delivered by the president of the National Electoral Council, Cristian Quiroz.

In his subsequent speech, De la Espriella addressed illegal armed groups. “They have one month to organize their submission to the state. In my government there will be no generous offers, nor unacceptable concessions like those received from the regime that is coming to an end,” he stated.

The president-elect also criticized the outgoing government of Gustavo Petro. He said he will receive a “deeply broken” country and that the previous administration weakened institutions and promoted divisions.

He also reported that he is already working with the vice president-elect on forming the ministerial cabinet.

Initial reactions on X largely praise De la Espriella's ultimatum to criminal groups as a strong break from previous policies, with some users highlighting it as a clear message against impunity. Skeptical voices question the president's credibility due to alleged past ties to criminal activities. News accounts report the credential delivery and one-month deadline neutrally, while others note contrasts with the prior government's approach.
