Delhi lg directs dda to develop dwarka as investment hub

Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has directed the Delhi Development Authority to prepare a time-bound plan to transform Dwarka into a hub for semiconductor plants, data centres and other non-polluting industries.

The directive came during a meeting last week where Sandhu, who chairs the DDA, reviewed development plans for Dwarka along with Rohini and Narela. Officials were asked to explore opportunities in information technology, healthcare, global capability centres and digital infrastructure, citing improved road links, metro expansion and proximity to the airport.

Key projects such as the Urban Extension Road-II, the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre and large tracts of investment-ready land were highlighted as advantages. The move aligns with a semiconductor policy announced by the Delhi government last month.

DDA officials said the plan aims to create employment and attract investment that has recently shifted to other cities, while ensuring sustainable growth outside central Delhi. Stakeholders will be consulted before the action plan is finalised.
