NITI Aayog council meeting: PM Modi urges district GDP estimates

The 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog was held in New Delhi on June 11, 2026. All chief ministers of 28 states attended. Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked states to prepare district-level GDP estimates and focus on the One District One Product initiative and defence manufacturing.

Chief ministers sought competitive energy prices and expanded solar infrastructure. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu requested a high-level committee to assess financial impacts including revenue deficit grant losses. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann demanded Special Category Status.

Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, and Jharkhand chief ministers also raised project-specific requests for central support.
