Steven Spielberg's new alien thriller Disclosure Day debuted strongly at the worldwide box office this weekend.
The Universal and Amblin film earned 93.9 million dollars globally. North America contributed 44 million dollars while overseas markets added 49.9 million dollars.
The ensemble cast includes Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, Josh O’Connor and Colin Firth. Domingo plays Hugo, a corporate whistleblower who leads the Truth Movement in the story of government cover-ups involving alien visitations.
Domingo said he believes in aliens. He noted that the film explores how corporations seek to profit from hidden information about extraterrestrial life.
The movie features research references including work by Harvard psychologist John E. Mack on reported extraterrestrial experiences.
