Do Nothing announce second album Friend World

Nottingham band Do Nothing has announced its second album, Friend World, set for release on November 6 via Submarine Cat Records. The group also shared the new single Stars, which features drum machine patterns and squelchy synths.

Frontman Chris Bailey described the track as being about ambition and fame, while also highlighting a connection with someone that makes other concerns fade. He noted that moving away from guitars helped create a sound that avoids being rocky or aggressive.

The album was produced and mixed by Louis Milburn of Folly Group and recorded at JT Soar in Nottingham. Bailey explained that the band felt freer this time, without pressure to depart from expectations, allowing them to pursue exciting ideas.

Friend World draws inspiration from novelist Elizabeth Smart and comedian Andy Kaufman. Bailey said the title reflects two sides to everything, with bleak themes presented in a way that does not feel bleak. The full tracklist includes Misery, The Nail, Act Natural, These People Want Blood, Stars, Smile, Dog 2, Loner, Yes, Paris Jesus and Incommunicado.
