Escape from Tarkov has reached a new milestone with players finally able to escape the game's harsh world following its exit from early access last month. Streamer Tigz became the first to achieve this feat, earning recognition from developer Battlestate Games. Another player, Tsukinogi, secured the best possible ending in the PvE mode.

Escape from Tarkov, a first-person extraction shooter in development since 2012, fully launched out of early access in November 2025. This update introduced the possibility of permanently escaping the game's fictional war-torn city, a core narrative goal that was previously unattainable. Each escape attempt requires an in-game investment of $5 million, and the final quest has been described as particularly challenging and elaborate.
Streamer Tigz made history as the first player to successfully escape. Battlestate Games acknowledged the accomplishment on Instagram, stating, "Congratulations to Tigz on being the first to Escape From Tarkov. You survived. But at what cost." Tigz shared a video of the process, with the key escape moment occurring around the 43-minute mark. So far, only a limited number of players have replicated this success, highlighting the difficulty involved.
Best Ending Milestone
The game features multiple endings, adding depth to the player experience. In the PvE mode, Tsukinogi was recognized as the first to achieve the optimal outcome. This recognition came via a developer post featuring an image of the achievement.
Launch Context and Backlash
The full release has stirred discussions due to prior controversies. Players who purchased the game before its Steam debut must repurchase it. The $150 Edge of Darkness edition was marketed to include all future DLC, but the later release of Escape from Tarkov: Arena and a separate $250 PvE mode prompted backlash. Battlestate Games issued an apology and granted Edge of Darkness owners access to the PvE content, addressing community concerns.
