A Florida mother and stepfather have been charged after allegedly attacking a 15-year-old boy who dropped off their daughter at home. Authorities say the pair mistook the teen for an adult.
Rosa Lamourt Tiru, 45, and Lance Mulonas, 61, face charges of aggravated child abuse and aggravated assault following the incident in Deltona. Mulonas is also accused of false imprisonment and criminal mischief.
The confrontation occurred around 3 p.m. on June 23 at a home on North Normandy Boulevard. The couple blocked the boy's vehicle with a van, and Mulonas allegedly struck the car with a metal pipe while holding a knife near the teen's neck. Tiru was reported to have waved a gun during the encounter.
The teen escaped and met his mother, who contacted authorities. Deputies arrested the pair, who remain in the Volusia County Jail without bond. Their next court hearing is scheduled for July 1.
