Griekspoor hires Sharapova's former coach Hogstedt permanently

Tallon Griekspoor has added Thomas Hogstedt to his coaching team on a full-time basis. The move comes after a trial period at the French Open and ahead of the grass-court season. Griekspoor aims to address recent performance issues with the Swedish coach's expertise.

Griekspoor confirmed the permanent arrangement with Hogstedt, who previously worked with him temporarily in Paris. The Dutch player said he looks forward to focusing on tennis development again after prioritizing personal growth in recent years.

Hogstedt brings experience from coaching Maria Sharapova during her successful period from 2010 to 2013, along with other WTA players including Caroline Wozniacki and Simona Halep. Griekspoor's trainer Sebastian Pisano already knows Hogstedt, both being Swedish.

The change follows a difficult clay-court swing where Griekspoor recorded five first-round exits. His grass season began with an early loss at the Libema Open despite entering as the sixth seed and defending champion. Griekspoor holds a career 2-5 record at Wimbledon and an 11-14 win-loss mark for the year overall.

He has secured two of his three ATP titles on grass, including victories at the Mallorca Championships and Libema Open. The addition of Hogstedt targets improvements in return of serve and backhand to build on Griekspoor's stronger serve and forehand.
