Jacob Misiorowski strikes out 12 in Brewers victory

Jacob Misiorowski struck out 12 of the first 13 Colorado Rockies batters he faced Sunday afternoon in a dominant start for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Misiorowski retired the first 14 batters overall and set a Brewers franchise record with seven consecutive strikeouts to open the game. He allowed one run on one hit over five innings, threw 83 pitches and recorded all 66 of his four-seam fastballs at 100 mph or higher.

The right-hander became the first pitcher since 1920 to record 11 strikeouts without allowing a hit through four innings. Colorado’s Cole Carrigg ended the no-hit bid with a solo home run in the fifth.

Milwaukee won the game 11-2 at American Family Field. Manager Pat Murphy noted Misiorowski’s command and extension made the fastball especially difficult to hit.
